Why do they have to go through the trouble of watching the logs over and over again, while a simple solution can do the same trick?

I mean: it takes a few seconds to load an instance right? Say you can start typing while it is loading, you would minimalise the time to a few seconds, really what is a few seconds these days?

Oh and by the way, any easily farmable area will be nerfed due to overbotting:

Any player that hasen't got supreme farming skills can say goodbye to any chanche of earning some money: the difference between the 2 will only grow.
Oh and Anet won't have to nerf any area at all, saving them more time. And they will be able to spent that time doing other more important stuff for the game.

Really 2 or 3 seconds each time you enter an instance is virtually nothing.
So your saying add a pin system, to look out the bots, and prevent areas becoming over farmed!

Bots farm for gold, it doesn't really effect the wider public.
Yeah I know some newb can ebay him self a million. That doesn't cause me any hassels.

Inflation is caused by the sellers and demand. If more 15^50 swords dropped, they wouldn't cost 100k +ecto.
Its not the bots as so many people seem to claim. Its supply and demand.
I remember when sigils were 100k +

And nerfing areas isn't to stop bots, there only interested in gold. Nerfing is to stop farmers. As long as one class can solo one area there will always be bots.
And there will always be farmers. Even if its farming wood or lode stones!

My instances load faster then 2-3secs, And your talking longer to read the number, enter the number and have it accepted. 5-15 sec.
Yeah its easy, unless you stuff it up, in which case you make it 30sec to 40 secs to enter a instance. I would see the out cry now. Think having to do it every single time.

Well: I dont know about you, but I can type 3 numbers an 1 or 2 seconds, and getting it accepted wouldn't take that much time.

But still I guess most people are simply too lazy to do something that takes 3-4 seconds each time you enter an instance form a town, so that both bots and leechers would be stopped.

But anyway: I'm still working on this subject because I belive it has potential, perhaps an improved version later.

Any ideas welcome (which was why I posted this in sardeliac in the first place).

Oh by the way, question:

If you'd put a button at a random place on the screen, changing every time, could you programm a bot to click it?

I don't know about you but I can go in and out of a hundred or more zones in a single sitting if I'm farming, mapping, porting in and out of various cities, doing quests, doing missions, looking for that certain collector etc. And having to punch in a 4 digit code each time you move to a new zone is not only going to get annoying it's also going to waste time.

Why is it that you expect the people who are not botting or leeching to jump through hoops? When the most reasonable solution would be to ban the bots and simply be aware of who you're letting in your group. The problems caused by bots and leechers should not be placed on anyone else other than the bots and leechers themselves.

I nor anybody else is lazy because we don't want to put in a 4 digit code. It's just that the problems caused by those few people who do bot or leech are not ours to deal with.

I don't think this would stop bots anyway. People would just stay to type in the 4 numbers, then leave. And they'd come back when they needed to do it again.

I wouldn't care much about having to type in 4 letters before an area, but I would quit the game if I had to click on a random spot periodically.

You don't know what you're talking about.

It'd take me about five minutes to program a bot to do that. And I'm not the best programmer around.

Not only is your suggested solution an inconvenience to all legitimate players, it is also a great way to piss off thousands of people who, like myself, already have to go through enough crap to load into a zone. Plus, it wouldn't stop the botters at all (except perhaps those that bot by means of a simple macro).

If you want to suggest a way to stop bots, try to do some research beforehand.

I agree with the moderators; your original post was written in the form of a suggestion, not in the form of a query as to how bots work. Therefore, the movement of it to Sardelac was justified and appropriate.

I understand where you're coming from, but please remember that Google is your friend. You're probably not going to find out how they work here, and therefore, you won't really find out if this is possible (which it is, to an extent, but it's extremely impractical) on these forums.
